1. Nominate TDGEF National Awards Candidates
Winners of The Drake Group Student Journalism Prize for Investigative Reporting — STUDENT JOURNALISTS, Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism and the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at the University of Maryland
Email TDGEF Awards Committee Chair, Sandy Thatcher (sthatcher@realizethepromise.org) your nomination for any of the following national awards:
• HUTCHINS AWARD — The Robert Maynard Hutchins Award honors a faculty or staff member who takes a courageous stand to defend academic integrity at their institution in response to institutional pressure related to special treatment of athletes, often risking job security in doing so.
• DRAKE HERO AWARD — Honors an individual or organization who has helped advance the collegiate sports reform movement through persistent actions over time. The individual, through their hard work and effort, or the organization through its mission-related work, has created a recognizable impact within the world of sports reform.
• DRAKE PRESIDENTIAL AWARD – Honors an extraordinary contribution by an individual or organization that has helped advance the integrity of intercollegiate athletics through an articulate and well-reasoned response to a current event or important issue.
• NATIONAL PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD — honors an elected public official responsible for proposing legislation that significantly improves the conduct of intercollegiate athletic programs, enhances the rights of college student-athletes, or otherwise protects their education, health, and safety.
• STUDENT JOURNALISM PRIZE FOR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING ON INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS — Recognizes the print, video, or multimedia work of a graduate or undergraduate college student journalist for exceptional substantive investigative reporting on intercollegiate athletics. The work must address an issue related to the protection of college athletes, financial excess, academic integrity, ethical conduct, racist or sexist practices, treatment of a whistleblower, or a similar significant concern. The award includes an honorarium of $1,000.00.
2. Public Education Through Social Media Advocacy

Email our Social Media Leader to volunteer to spread the word about critical issues in college athletics by promoting TDGEF position statements and op-eds using social media. Our social media publicist provides you with regular tweets, Instagram graphics or other messaging to share with friends and colleagues.
3. Advance Positive Legislative Change
Learn more about our sister organization, The Drake Group. Members are engaged in communicating with members of Congress to advance federal legislation that will improve educational outcomes and help protect the health and well-being of college athletes.
