Andre Vasquez, B.S., currently attends the University of Central Florida as a Prospanica scholar, studying in the DeVos Sport Business Master’s program under the direction of racial equity icon Dr. Richard Lapchick and former Orlando Magic executive, Ashley Turner. Andre currently serves as a Graduate Assistant for both Football and Men’s Basketball in the university’s athletic department. He also serves as a research assistant for The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport , which highlights racial and gender hiring practices for the MLB, WNBA, NBA, NFL, NCAA, and MLS.
A Mexican-American native of Southern California and former athlete, Andre has been involved with sports all of his life. He attended eight different high schools and credits his diverse childhood and former college coach parents for his appreciation for sports as an outlet and vessel for personal growth.
Andre recently graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At Grand Canyon University he was involved with athletics on campus and conducted the university’s first research-based case study in his concentration (student-athlete development) working alongside several executive members of Grand Canyon University’s business and athletic departments to help highlight the importance of team culture. Additionally, Andre has leveraged his athletic experience with an industry application at Delaware North Sportservice for the last three years. Andre managed the CONCACAF Soccer Gold Cup, which topped over 60,000 attendees, serving as the company’s game day operations manager, overseeing over 150 employees. He was later promoted and managed the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball 2019 Spring Training business operations in Phoenix, Arizona where he managed over 100 employees and over ten corporate affiliates. Currently, Andre continues to bolster the development and awareness of young people through his work with Prime U, a professional development company, that seeks to educate student-athletes and professionals through research-based training solutions. Upon completion of his Master’s degree, Andre seeks to continue his schooling to pursue a Ph.D. in Education. He is committed to helping students through higher education and the power of sport.
