Current and former coach, athletic administrator, and coach pedagogy experts will examine why too many college coaches continue to demonstrate behaviors that negatively impact the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of college athletes and how this issue should be addressed. Are there domestic or foreign programs that should be emulated and is it feasible to implement similar training and certification systems or sport policies in USA college programs? What are the challenges of implementing coach training and certification programs? Are athlete complaint procedures, whistleblower protections, and mandatory reporters important solution elements and, if so, who and how should these be implemented and enforced? When coaches are accused of abusive practices, how do we ensure fair investigation and adjudication? Does college sport need the enforcement power of banning coaches’ employment?
